Boxing Training Is For Women!

Boxing training is a great, all-body workout. Unfortunately, very few of the women would stay around long enough to discover how boxing training could benefit them. What really bothered me is that the women would disappear from the class quicker than the men. They would start out being excited about trying something new. They would ask a lot of intelligent questions. Then after a week or so had gone by, the women would slowly trickle out. By the end of the eight week class session, I often would find myself being the only woman left standing in the gym -- again.

I began to wonder why, and I finally came to some conclusions. . .

. . .most of the women were not familiar with the sport of boxing. . . .

. . .most of the women expected the boxing gym to operate similar to the health clubs they had attended before. . .

. . .most of the women felt they had to spar in order to participate even though that wasn't a requirement to train. . .

. . .and some of the women were intimidated by sharing a gym with a bunch of sweaty, grunting guys -- I was too, in the beginning!

When I realized those things, I decided to do what I could to make women who came to the gym feel comfortable. Besides being a great workout, boxing is also a lot of fun! The purpose of this site is to help women who may be interested in the sport get the information they need -- whether they just want to get in shape or plan to compete in tournaments -- or both!
